Paladin declares ?I Am? for Tom Shadyac documentary

Tom Shadyac?s personal documentary ?I Am? has been picked up by Paladin for a theatrical release in February.
The director of mainstream comedy fare such as ?Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,? ?Liar Liar? and ?Bruce Almighty,? Shadyac suffered a bicycle accident that altered his approach to the world and to filmmaking. Since recovering, Shadyac has invested in this non-fiction exploration of what?s wrong with our world and how we can improve both it and the way we live in it.
So he sold his house, moved to a mobile home community and met on camera with notable people from the worlds of science, philosophy, and faith such as Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Coleman Barks and Marc Ian Barasch.
?I am proud to be partnered with Tom on ?I Am,? a film that is at once interesting, intensely personal and truly important,? said Paladin president and CEO Mark Urman. ?Tom, first and foremost, is a terrific entertainer. The film is also great fun, and I have no doubt that ?I Am? will be as popular in its own way as anything Tom has done before.?

All proceeds from the film?s release will go to the Foundation for I Am, a non-profit established by Shadyac to fund various worthy causes and to educate the next generation about the issues and problems explored in the film. The film will screen at the Hamptons Film Festival later this week.
?I Am? is a Shady Acres Film, presented by Flying Eye Prods. in association with Homemade Canvas Prods. Dagan Handy produced the film, with Jacquelyn Zampella serving as co-producer and Nicole Pritchett as associate producer. Editor Jennifer Abbott (?The Corporation?) served as its executive producer along with Jonathan Watson.
CAA negotiated the deal on behalf of Shadyac, whose last directing effort was "Evan Almighty" in 2007.
Paladin will release the Sundance comedy ?Douchebag? later this month.
